Lynx was formed in 1997 following an unexpected redundancy. With a handful of customers the business was started, it supplied a range of packaging materials such as tapes, bubblefilms and stretchfilms. There was healthy growth in the initial years due to superb customer service, honesty and quality products.
The purchase of a small stretchfilm rewinder in 2000, was the beginning of production for Lynx. The rewinder was housed in a garage and allowed Andy to make both hand pallet wrap and handy wrap rolls up for customer orders.
These rolls were made up through the night, and delivered the next morning to customers. Afternoons were spent on the phone getting in new business.
2003 saw a big jump for Lynx and a move into its own premises, along with the addition of 5 more stretchfilm rewinders.
The ‘good old days’ as described by Andy, of running machines from a small portable compressor, power extensions leading to a friendly neighbour, as the building had no power of its own, and freezing cold offices due to no carpets, are long behind the Company now.
Having grown into over 30,000 sq/ft of production and warehousing the premises is now home to 9 polythene extruders, several stretchfilm conversion lines, a corrugated box line, and a wide array of polythene bag conversion lines and is a long way from the humble beginnings of Lynx.
When it comes to high quality packaging combined with service which is second to none, Lynx Polythene are leading the way.
